Misha {Sacramento Adoption Homecoming}

Last month I had the amazing opportunity to travel to Houston to photograph the adoption homecoming of Elizabeth Joy. Shortly after I blogged those images I received a message from Melissa. Not only was Melissa arriving home in a few short days from Ukraine with her new son, she & her family only lived 15 minutes from me! Such a small world! Just like the Rector Family, the Chellson’s also adopted their son through the amazing organization Reese’s Rainbow. I strongly encourage everyone to check them out. Even if you aren’t in the position to be able to adopt a child yourself, you can donate to the families in the process of adopting.
May 13, 2012 will always be a special Mother’s Day for Melissa. This was the day she arrived back in California with her new son, Misha! Misha is 3 years old and previously lived in Ukraine. Melissa had spent 6 weeks in Ukraine going through the whole adoption process and her husband was able to be there for part of the time. While David wasn’t there, he was home with their other son, Ryan. Ryan was finally able to meet his new little brother and for the first time the whole family was finally together!

The Chellson’s had an awesome group of family and friends turn out to support them for Misha’s arrival.

Everyone was so excited to meet him! When the crew walked past the group they knew exactly who we were waiting for and assured us he was just about to appear. They even stopped to watch his arrival. So sweet!

Finally the time came and Melissa appeared at the top of the escalator holding Misha.

What a beautiful moment. Tears were shed, hugs were shared, and Misha was just the sweetest. He had no problems being held by each one of the friends who were so excited to meet him. I think he was so sleepy he would have gladly snuggled up in any one of their arms and fallen fast asleep.

Grandma getting to meet her new grandson! Love it 🙂

Father & Son. Melt my heart!

Ryan now has a little brother! I have a feeling these two are going to be best buds!

Off to begin their life as a family of 4! 🙂

This is just one of the reasons, I love being a photographer. Never would I have had the opportunity to witness such, sweet & happy moments as these! Thank you Melissa for asking me, it was a blessing & privileged!
