Ireland: Day 3 {Clonmacnoise & Galway}

Picking up where I left off in my first post… We started off the day with our first traditional Irish breakfast. An Irish breakfast consists of sausage, bacon, eggs, toast (brown bread) and your hot drink of choice – which in our cases ALWAYS is tea. Oh and I can’t forget the black and white pudding! I found a saying that goes “Eat breakfast like a King, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper”. This basically became the motto for our trip, even though we didn’t plan it that way. Those Irish breakfasts fill you up and we would have such a big breakfast, a late lunch, and then by dinner we barely felt like eating a thing!

Anyway, Friday morning we left our homey little BnB and went back to the airport to pick up our rental car from Dan Dooley car hire. (For the record, I completely recommend them and they were over $200 cheaper than everyone else!) The real adventure began once I got behind the wheel… hehe. Actually driving on the opposite side of the road it wasn’t too bad, not as bad as I thought it would be! As we made our “cross country drive” to Galway we made a stop over at Clonmacnoise. Clonmacnoise is a site that has the ruins of a cathederal and seven churches from the 10th-13th centuries. As I walked around this beautiful place it was then that I felt I was officially in Ireland!

Just a few cows strolling along the hill.

After a pretty long day of driving we arrived in Galway and walked around and enjoyed the lively atmosphere!

World’s smallest Claddagh Ring

I almost extended this post to included photos from the next day… but there were too many and this post would have become way too long!
So stay tuned for the next one 🙂
