Northern CA Day Trips {Personal}

A few weekends ago I had the chance to do some day-tripping to two different parts of Northern California.  One of the reasons I love living here is how central we are to so many amazing places.  One day I spent the day at the coast with friends feasting on oysters, the next day I went to Napa wine country with my family for wine tasting and delicious food at a roadside grill.

Here are a few photos I snapped at the Oyster cook out.  Our base camp was at the Tomales Bay Oyster Co.  Thanks to the BBQing expertise of my friend Jessica, we ate more than our fill of delicious oysters among other tasty things.  I love the atmostphere, everyone brings food & drinks and camps out all day eating fresh oysters.  And even though it Februrary every table was spoken for… granted, it was some gorgeous weather!

The very next day was a holiday Monday so most of my family had the day off work.  We took advantage of the lovely February weather and went to St. Helena and stopped at Gott’s for lunch.  First off, look how awesome Gott’s looks.  Second, the food is amazing.  We barely got there before the legendary long line started forming.    Gotts I very much enjoyed a milkshake. This blog post is starting to have a theme… Good food.  But I do not mind that a bit. Avery is the coolest niece there is. After lunch we paid a visit to the gorgeous winery, Chateau Montelena.  It’s a historic Napa Valley winery that looks like something straight out of a fairy tale.  I can only imagine how gorgeous it will looks a little later in the spring when the front is covered in ivy. And that wraps up my day trip post.  I really do love being a tourist in my own backyard, and I’m so grateful for weekends like these where I have the opportunity to do so!
