Ireland: Day 6 {Ennis & Adare}

After a lovely breakfast at Newpark House we were ready to face the day! We started off by going to the nearby village of Quin. We had an amazing time exploring Quin Abbey. We happened to be there on the one day of the week they are closed, but I didn’t mind because it was completely deserted and we could still see almost all of it! Love it! Some history for you… Quin Abbey was built between 1402 and 1433. In about 1640 the building became a college and is alleged to have had 800 students. And it was destroyed a few times. Can’t even imagine how after all this time, something that old is still standing!

From Quin we made our way all around County Clare, taking in the sights and then wound up in Adare. We made a quick photo-pit stop at Adare Manor (straight out of a Downton Abbey episode).

And then we spent the afternoon in the adorable town of Adare, known as one of Ireland’s “prettiest villages”.

Even cute shot through an iPhone!

Wrapping up our day we made a drive out to Killaloe (recommended by the locals at the Pub the night before). It was so picturesque! I can only imagine how beautiful it is when the sun is shining!

And I could not help myself from a photo-op with the Shannon River. How could I resist?! Thanks for the pic JJ 🙂
